Coolsculpting vs Laser Lipo (THE ULTIMATE GUIDE)

What is Coolsculpting?

Coolsculpting, also known as Cryolipolysis, is and FDA approved treatment meant to eliminate stubborn fat that is incapable of burning with exercise. It is safer than most fat reduction surgeries simply because surgery and anesthesia is completely out of the picture! You may be wondering how your stubborn fat can just disappear without surgery or extensive exercise.

Well the Coolsculpting treatment delivers a cooling to your fat cells which are located underneath your skin. This controlled cooling causes your fat cells to freeze, and then die. Over time, your body gets rid of these dead cells, leaving you looking skinnier and more confident than ever.

Coolsculpt pros and cons?

One of the most important benefits of the procedure is the fact that surgery is not involved at all. Also, the procedure is a gently and soft treatment, so you will have minimal to no discomfort.

There are also no needles or anesthesia involved. The removal of the fat is also more natural than making an incision and removing it. Last but not least, the results so far by people who took a chance on coolsculpting have been fantastic!

One of the negatives however are that you won’t come out of the procedure a different person. The Coolsculpting procedure takes time due to it being a natural process.

The full effect won’t take full place until about 3 months after the procedure, but most patients noticed changes within the first 5 weeks. I know the procedure will make some inpatient, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Where can the procedure be done?

  • Chin
  • Neck
  • Love Handles
  • Arms
  • Thighs
  • Stomach
  • Breast

What to expect during and after a Coolsculpt session

Treatments last up to an hour. Some treatment places have multiple applicators, so you can get multiple parts of your body treated at once, saving you time.

The treatments starts off with you feeling an intense cold sensation in your treated area. Then you will feel a pull as there is an applied suction. After treatment, you may feel a tingling sensation in the treated area for about 4 minutes. You can return to normal activities as soon as the treatment is over.

As I stated earlier, you will not see results right away your body needs time to process the dead fat cells and get them out of your body. A few side effects that occur in the treated areas include:

  • Redness
  • Stinging
  • Cramping
  • Itching
  • Skin Sensitivity
  • Blanching

These side effects are temporary and may last a few days or weeks.

How much does coolsculpting cost and can men do i?

Men can absolutely do Coolsculpting. It is also a great way for them, as well as women to remove stubborn fat.

The treatment can cost between $2,000-$4,000 depending on how many areas of the body you want to be treated. It may seem pricey, but once you see the results, you will feel like it was money well spent.

What is Laser Lipo (SmartLipo)

Laser Lipo, short for laser liposuction, is an FDA approved treatment that some claim is just as effective as normal liposuction without having to stay at the hospital.

Laser lipo, however is not a safe alternative for removing fat. Many complications can occur and we will discuss those issues later in the article.

The Smart Lipo technique uses lasers to break up the fat before it is actually removed from your body.

There are two procedures: internal and external.

Internal lipo uses a laser attached to the suction device which is inserted into the area you desire to get treated.

External lipo uses lasers outside of your body before your surgery starts.

The three surgeries include Vaser, Smart, and Ultra Lipo. Vaser lipo uses a brisk technology without lasers that has the capability of targeting one specific area. Smart Lipo removes tiny amounts of fat. Sedatin is not necessary for this procedure. Ultra lipo uses soundwaves to get rid of the fat. Your fat is liquified during the procedures and is removed with a cannula suction.

Laser Lipo has some benefits, but the cons would have to outweigh the pros with this procedure. I will list both of them out for you, so you can see that there are far more risks in this procedure than there are benefits.

Cons:

  • Skills/ qualifications of surgeon sometimes vary
  • Burn risks
  • Infection
  • Allergic reaction to medication
  • Damage of skin tissues
  • Dead skin
  • Accidental puncture of vital internal organ
  • Bumpy skin
  • Imbalance of fluid

Pros:

  • Short wait time for surgery
  • Reduced risk of bruising
  • Faster recovery time

What to expect during and after a Laser Lipo

The length of the procedure varies based on how many areas the patient wants treated. Recovery however is quick.

Most patients can return to work and their everyday lives within a few days. You must let your body ease back into everyday routines as changes are still occurring after surgery.

You may start to see results from the surgery about a week after as the swelling is going down. Results should continue for several months as the laser used to liquify your fat is tightening and smoothing your skin and those remedies take time to develop. However, some people have stated that they have seen no results from the surgery and that it was just a complete waste of money. Once again, do the surgery at your own risk!

Areas where the procedure can be done:

  • Stomach
  • Knees
  • Tights
  • Buttox
  • Arms
  • Waist
  • Back
  • Neck

What does Laser Lipo cost and can men do it?

Smart Lipo surgery can treat men and women. It costs between $2,500-$4,500 depending on what body part you want treated and how many. The more body parts you want treated, the more the surgery will cost you.

To conclude, Coolsculpting appears to be a better alternative than Laser Lipo due to the fact that the risks are lower.

While I would recommend Coolsculpting, there is a better alternative for both. Diet and daily exercise is a much healthier substitute for both. But as I stated before, it’s your decision… make the right one!
